Participants will learn how to portray mental health symptoms and treatments accurately and sensitively in women’s fiction. This webinar will cover topics such as mental health disorders and labels, types of mental health professionals, writing about therapy treatments, and writing about suicide and trauma.
Bio:
Dr. Elena Mikalsen is a nationally recognized expert in women’s and children’s mental health. She is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and the Chief of Pediatric Psychology at CHRISTUS Children’s Hospital. Her clinical expertise specifically includes Postpartum Mood Disorders, PTSD, OCD, Anxiety Disorders, and Eating Disorders. She writes novels about loss and grief and provides sensitivity consultations to authors writing about mental health.
