ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

To succeed as a writer, you need two things: to write and to cultivate an author brand. Especially for writers who plan to write a book, apply for a writing job or be competitive among submissions for literary journals or magazines, or in other ways bring their talent to market - and even for emerging writers - it is never too early to understand positioning and brand.

In today’s digital world, agents and publishers look for authors with a known brand, a digital presence, and a clear style.

Taught by Lynne Golodner, author of 8 books, a writing coach, and marketing expert, this workshop will look at how and why to cultivate an author brand, develop a reputation in your genre(s) and encourage readers and publishers to know you in particular ways. Lynne was a journalist for 15 years, writing about food, family, faith, and home for magazines and newspapers around the world. She then spent 15 years running  Your People LLC, her marketing company based in Detroit, and she now combines both worlds as she teaches writing, works one-on-one with writers, leads retreats and seminars, and is writing books and essays. Her first novel is forthcoming in 2023. Lynne has helped hundreds of writers develop their brand and achieve exposure locally, nationally, and globally.

The Author Brand teaches writers how to “brand” themselves so they will be seen as an author/writer, and what they can do on their website and social media to further that image. We’ll also look at how to strategically place your writing in the best outlets for your brand and purpose, how to position yourself as a credible author/writer, and how to set yourself up so you will attract publishers and agents when you’re ready.

In this course, we'll examine the art of branding, how to know your writing style and voice, and how to create a plan for your writing that you will be eager to enact.
