ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

Are you looking to migrate from Kindle Unlimited to Wide?

Are you currently Wide but feel like there's too much out there to wrap your mind around, and you don't know how to optimize your catalog?

Are you a new author, looking to go Wide from Day 1, but you're not sure how or where to get started?

"Wide For The Win" refers to a strategy used by authors in the self-publishing industry where they choose to distribute their eBooks as widely as possible across multiple platforms, rather than exclusively on one platform like Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing. The idea behind this approach is to maximize exposure and revenue by making the book available on various retailers and digital platforms, such as Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, Kobo, and others.

This strategy can help authors reach a broader audience, attract different demographics, and potentially increase their earnings through diverse channels. It also reduces dependency on a single retailer and allows for more flexibility in terms of pricing, promotions, and control over distribution rights.

Here are the topics that will be covered during this 1 ½ hour presentation (with time for Q&A at the end!):

  • Kindle Unlimited vs Wide – what KU is, what it means to be Wide, and the benefits that come from being a Wide author

  • Distributor vs direct – what I suggest in which situation
  • Wide algos vs Amazon’s algos – why long preorders are such a boon on Wide platforms; why switching between KU and Wide causes so many problems (both in terms of algos and working with Wide storefront employees)
  • The four parts of the metadata that is always search indexed, and why that matters
  • The fifth part of the metadata that is sometimes search indexed and sometimes not, and how to use that info when uploading books to storefronts

NOTE: We are going to be focusing on eBook only in this class. A lot of what I talk about in this class is absolutely applicable to print, audio, translations, etc (a subtitle is a subtitle, no matter the format!) I just will not be covering those formats specifically here.

This workshop is a one-day live event that will last approximately 1 1/2 hours with Q&A at the end. This event will be recorded. The recording will be available by June 10, 2024, by Noon ET. You will continue to have 30 days to access the workshop recording, allowing you to visit the workshop, view the recordings, and download the handout. July 11, 2024, is the date this workshop will be archived and no longer accessible. A slideshow presentation in PDF format will be available to download along with the presentation.

PARTICIPATION IN THE WORKSHOP IS THE KEY TO YOUR SUCCESS

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: ERIN WRIGHT

Erin Wright is a full-time author but unless you’re a fan of sexy cowboys, you’ve probably heard of her because of the Wide for the Win FB group. She co-founded the group back in 2019 with Suzie O’Connell, and has been posting in the group instead of writing books ever since.

She’s worked every job under the sun, including library director, barista, teacher, website designer, and ranch hand helping brand cattle, before settling into the career she’s always dreamed about: Author.

She still loves coffee, doesn’t love the smell of cow flesh burning, and is currently living out her own love story in a tiny town in rural Idaho.
