ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: TERRI MAIN

I have been writing professionally (getting paid for writing) since 1970 when I published my first piece. It was a poem in a small youth publication. I got paid $2.00. Not, don't scoff at that low amount. I could fill up my tank with gas for $2.00, but instead, I bought a copy of the Writer's Market. That is after my parents dragged me out in front of the house to take a picture of me holding the check. Since then, I have published in just about every venue. I've published magazine articles, novels, short stories, nonfiction books, a radio drama, a couple of readers theatre productions, thirty Bible studies, twenty-five writing, and publishing courses, and just this month I finished my first screenplay, Well, "finished" is a relative term. I'm working on a commission from a producer. I passed the first draft review with a request for a rewrite. So, I suspect, I'll be doing rewrites right up until they turn the lights on in the studio.

Anyway, I also spent several years in advertising and marketing. Mostly copywriting.

But the love of my life (other than writing) is teaching. I taught communication skills written and oral at Reedley College as a tenured instructor for twenty-two years, and as a part-time instructor at College of the Redwoods prior to that for eight years. While at Reedley college, in 2001, I was part of a team that built our online education program. I've been teaching at least one online course every month since then. I retired in 2012 when I went indie with my publishing (couldn't wait around 12-18 months to publish one book on pension). Since then I've published seventy titles on Amazon and created roughly twenty-five writing courses.

I also have a master’s degree in psychology. This type of insight into personality has helped me tremendously when creating fictional characters. I call it growing characters from the inside out.

On the personal side, I still live in Reedley, California with my three cats. I'm a lifelong single. So, I'm holding down the vanishing tradition of the Old Maid school teacher with cats.

Terri is currently overhauling her website and it should be available for viewing again on January 1, 2023. www.WordmasterAcademy.org

NOTE FROM THE WFWA WORKSHOP TEAM

This workshop is part of our new "BITE-SIZE LEARNING WORKSHOP" series which offers text-based learning, self-paced, and modest instructor interactions with a possible LIVE Q&A Session if needed (no LIVE Q&A will be included in the above-mentioned workshop because all questions will be answered during the workshop within the forum.

Most of our Bite-Size Learning Workshops (BSLW) will have no pre-recorded videos. These workshops were designed to offer "text-based" learning with lessons posted daily or almost daily in our workshop forum.

BSLWs were designed with all member budgets in mind and to further education opportunities. We also designed these workshops with busy lifestyles in mind. BSLWs are self-paced, meaning you visit the workshop forum on your terms, with no need to follow a rigid schedule. You interact with other workshop attendees and/or the instructor if you choose to. Our BSLWs on average will be one week in length, some a few days longer to fit in all the lessons if the instructor wishes to space things out a bit. Each workshop will also be available for a maximum of 30 days after the workshop closes to commenting beginning the morning after the workshop completion date (which will typically be a Sunday).

We will have one BSLW the last week of each month from February through November 2023.
