The WFWA Retreat is a craft and networking event. It’s an opportunity to talk about w omen’s fiction – both the writing and marketing aspects – with like-minded writers in a relaxed atmosphere.
The 2018 retreat w ill focus on the art of revision, with book coach, author, and creative str ategist Jennie Nash. Ms. Nash will be teaching a revision process that will help writers at every stage in their career hone their self-editing skills and learn how to give their manuscripts that extra boost. There will be in -person lessons, plenty of time to execute the revision exercises, and a li ve review of a handful of participants' before-and-after revisions for an i nside peek into how an editor thinks.
There will also be discussion g roups on topics chosen by retreat attendees. These informal discussions are facilitated by retreat attendees and are an opportunity for everyone to sh are experiences, questions, concerns, and ideas.

You won’t need fancy clothes for this event. We’ll b e learning, writing, talking—you’ll want to be comfortable. Jea ns, khakis, even sweats or yoga pants are fine. Although keep in mind that we’re not the only guests in the hotel, so jammies may not be the mos t appropriate comfy-writing-clothes choice, unless, of course, you’re writing in your room.
Bring comfortable shoes, especially if you&rsq uo;re planning on a walk to Old Town.
You may want to pack something a bit more festive for the dinners, especially the awards dinner, but nothi ng in the formal or semi-formal or wanna-be formal range.
There is a private Facebook group for each W FWA retreat. It’s a great place to find a roommate, connect with othe rs for sharing rides to and from the hotel, and build the anticipation. p>

There are numerous transportation options to and from the airport in Albuquerque. Details on a group rate for a shuttle and/or co ordinating taxi/uber rides will be addressed in the retreat Facebook group closer to the event time.
Registration will open on March 26, 2018. In order to ensure a more intimate retreat atmosphere, registration will be capped at 85.
